Hernando Beach North is located on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico along the West Coast of Florida known as the Nature Coast. Recreation in the area includes fishing (Hernando Beach is considered the best Tarpon fishing grounds in the world,) boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and birdwatching. The nearby Withlacoochee State Forest has trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding, as well as swimming, fishing, canoeing and camping.
Hernando Beach has its own network of man made canals that connect to the Gulf of Mexico and the town has upscale homes, restaurants, shops and marinas. Going out for a moonlight sail or viewing a spectacular Gulf sunset are a way of life in Hernando Beach. This town is located just 35 miles north of downtown Tampa.
